Sanden's 4440 SD7H15 answer for the General Motors HT6 - 6 Groove Clutch Assembly With A 5.0" Diameter Pulley,  .60" Gauge Line, And 8mm Pin Coil @ 11 O'Clock

This unit comes with a full 8 ounce charge of premium PAG 46 oil.

This unit comes with a switch port plug in the rear.  The original pressure switch and the switch port plug must be removed from each compressor.  Using a set of small internal snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring from each port.  Carefully twist the original switch, gently wiggling back and forth, and slide in from the cavity.  Spraying some lubricant around the switch may facilitate removal.  Two flat head screwdrivers can be used to pop the plug from the new unit.  Wipe the switch clean, and slide it into the new unit.  Replace the snap ring, bevelled side up, to secure the switch in place.

A/C Compressor Removal and Installation time is 1 hour.

Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement - Sample vehicle is a 1998 C1500 Suburban V8 5.7.  Most vehicles will use the same procedures.

Removal Procedure

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

For Vehicles equipped with OnStar® (UE1) with Back Up Battery:

The Back Up Battery is a redundant power supply to allow limited OnStar® functionality in the event of a main vehicle battery power disruption to the VCIM (OnStar®module). Do not disconnect the main vehicle battery or remove the OnStar® fuse with the ignition key in any position other than OFF. Retained accessory power (RAP) should be allowed to time out or be disabled (simply opening the driver door should disable RAP) before disconnecting power. Disconnecting power to the OnStar® module in any way while the ignition is On or with RAP activated may cause activation of the OnStar® Back-Up Battery (BUB) system and will discharge and permanently damage the back-up battery. Once the Back-Up Battery is activated it will stay on until it has completely discharged. The BUB is not rechargeable and once activated the BUB must be replaced.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant.
3. Remove the drive belt.
4. Disconnect the refrigerant hose assembly from the compressor.
5.Cap or plug all of the open connections.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors, as necessary.
7. Remove the bolts.
8. Remove the compressor from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the compressor to the bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the compressor mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

3. Connect the electrical connectors, as necessary.
4. Install the refrigerant hose assembly to the compressor.
5. Install the drive belt.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
7. Charge the system.
8. Inspect the system for leaks.

The Accumulator or Filter Drier should always be replaced when the Air Conditioning System is opened.  (see why)  The Orifice Tube, if equipped, should always be replaced and the Expansion Valve, if equipped, should at least be inspected for proper operation if not replaced.  (see why)
